When centered around God, sports have the ability to glorify God. Not only can sports be utilized as a tool in discipleship training, but sports can also be used as a vehicle to proclaim the Gospel to others. It’s safe to say that even when people are in dire need of an encounter with Jesus Christ, they probably would never step foot in the house of God. However, the game of basketball provides us the environment to introduce to the lost the love of Jesus Christ. By coming indirect contact with God’s people and the Holy Spirit, they have the opportunity to join His fellowship!
